Shenley squash stars on form

Two members of Shenley Junior Squash club performed well at the regional championships this weekend.

Jemma Stanton made fairly light work of some tough opposition in the girls under 17 tournament to win the event. In the first round she beat Erin Walker of Wiltshire, 11-2, 11-1, 11-2.

In the semi final defeated Sydney Wallace (Bucks) 11-4, 11-4, 11-9 and in the final she comfortably beat Megan Thomas (Hants) 11-3, 11-3, 11-3. Jemma is pictured receiving her trophy. She is now ranked 20 in the country in the U17s and 36 in the U19s.

In the boys under 11 tournament James Kettle came a very close second, to the number 1 seed.

James had a walkover in the first round before defeating Crofton Keyes (Wilts) 11-2, 11-1, 11-2.

In the semi final he defeated the Oxfordshire number 1 Oliver Coulcher-Porter 12-10, 11-3, 11-8 before coming up against his friend and fellow Bucks County player, Alex Mullis.

In a hard fought match, Alex, ranked seventh in the country ran out a close winner 11-8, 11-9, 2-11, 11-9.

James is now ranked 12th in the country in the U12 section.
