Skaters enjoy successful competition

TWENTY skaters from the Milton Keynes area recently competed with over 250 other competitors at the National Lee Valley Open Figure Skating competition.

They returned with an amazing total of ten trophies – three gold, three silver and four bronze – proving the most successful competition and set of results for the team in some time.

The winning skaters who took gold were Alex Brown, Paige Jacobs and Shaylee Jones.

Silver medals went to Debbie Bell, Ellie Taylor and Lucy Thorpe.

And the bronze medal winners were Charlotte Cook, Shannon Powell, Jodie East and Kia Blackburn.

The other skaters who competed in the competition were: Sophie Roberts, Jemma Snoxall, Jo Marfleet, Ellie Green, Megan Derbyshire, Millie Green, Tamsin Gregory, Lin Bowker-Lonnecker, Alex Bowker-Lonnecker, Nadia Jones and Elle Lindsay.

All the skaters are coached at Planet Ice in Milton Keynes by coaches from the International School of Skating, Vicky Ogden, Vadim Musim, Tabitha Mayer, Michelle Backhouse, Iveta Reitmayerova, and Lana Blackburn.

Many of the skaters are now hoping to repeat their success at the end of June when they will be competing at an event in Basingstoke.
