Squash stars climb rankings

Three members of the Shenley Junior Squash Club recently entered the Bucks County Junior Closed Championships with great success.

Entering the Under 13 section for the first time, Neville Jeyaratnam came a creditable eighth, winning his first match 3-0 before going down 3-0 in the next.

Jemma Stanton came runner up in the Girl’s Under 17 event.

Jemma is currently ranked 20 in the national rankings but lost to an opponent ranked second in the country.

In the Boy’s Under 11 category, James Kettle put in an exceptional performance.

Jamesbeat the number seven and number three seed 3-0 before playing Alex Mullis, ranked fourth in the country, in the final.

James played some magnificent squash to be drawing 2-2 then led 5-1 in the final game. an unfortunate fall saw James hit the wall and eventually concede the game 11-6.

As a result of his performance, James is now ranked 12 in the country in the Under 11 category.
