CMK Swimming Club raised a few eyebrows with their performance at the South East England Winter Championships in Portsmouth.
There were some stunning swims from Joss Ulyett, who picked up five golds, two South East records, Charlotte Evans who won four golds, four bronzes, one South East record, four county records, Tom Flaherty landing two golds, one county record and Isobel Jones who won one gold, four other medals, one county record.
All four swimmers are hoping to have done enough to represent SE England in Barcelona next January.
If selected this would likely make CMK the most represented club.
The team finished second in the medal table behind Guildford City with sound performances throughout the team.
Oliver Lines contributed with medals in the butterfly events and Max Murphy also swam outstandingly well with his first National Qualifying times in the pool and two club records.
The club also made an impact in the final round of the national Arena League, coming a strong fourth place out of six in one of the strongest finals seen in the East Region for a long time.
The Coventry venue was packed and the event marked the 8th time CMK Swimming Club has actually reached the final.
There were 10 first places on the day for Lucy Farmer, Max Murphy, Oliver Lines, Isobel Jones, Charlotte Evans, Joss Ulyett and wins in the U15 girls freestyle and Girls Open individual medley and freestyle. Overall winner was Peterborough.
Finally the club came together for the annual festive Christmas Cracker event held at Bletchley Leisure Centre.
This gave a chance for swimmers to compete across distances up to 100m and featured first-time races for the eight-year-olds.
There was a great atmosphere and some very good PBs achieved.
