MK Rowing Club had a busy, but brilliant weekend on the Thames.
The Veterans Head of the River Race for the women’s IM3 crew was held on Saturday and Sunday the Men’s IM 3 crew.
On Saturday the ladies 8 boated from Barns Bridge in high spirits to row up to the start.
The team were moving as one with calls from Chris the cox. The conditions became more choppy at Hammersmith bridge. The team continued to pull together holding off a crew that were chasing as they crossed the finish line fifth in a time of 22 minutes 11.1 seconds.
Sunday played host to the men’s 8 crew in the Head of the River race.
Weather warnings of gales meant the start was delayed by an hour, with rain and winds gusting as the crew set off to the start. Coxed by the ladies captain Karen Wilson keeping a firm hand on the rudder.
In the huge field, MK set the 288th fastest time of 330 crews, setting a time of 21 minutes 22.79 seconds.
