Point guard Conner Washington heads into the British Basketball League play-offs with his Leicester Riders team in sparkling form.
After 22pts in Riders’ win over Sheffield last Sunday, the former MK College student and former MK Lions star hit a season high 23 on Friday night against Worcester before a 17 point haul against Newcastle Eagles.
What’s more, his side go into the play-offs as the form side despite the Eagles retaining their league crown.
The Riders will be amongst the favourites to play at the BBL showpiece event at the O2 at the start of May.
“Over the last two seasons I feel like I have really developed as a player,” said Washington.
“My coach, Rob Paternostro, played in my position which I think really has helped me to progress quickly.
“We go into the Playoffs in good spirit. We have a really tight group here, one of the best atmospheres’ I’ve experienced.
“Rob (Paternostro) always puts together teams that can compete and this team is no different.”
“On top of that we have a loyal fan-base. At the last game, people were stood around the edges at each end because we just had no seats left.
“The supporters are incredible, and we’ll be doing all we can to give them something to smile about at the end of the year.”
Riders play Sheffield Sharks over two legs on 22/04 and 24/04.
