Wolverton are off to a flyer in bowls season

Wolverton Town Bowls Club has made a winning start to their 2014 outdoor season with a win against away at Scot Sports.

In a closely fought game Wolverton Town emerged as winners by 84 shots to 83 shots.

Their highest winning triple being Arthur Ambridge, Richard Newcombe and Hazel Golsdmith.

On Saturday May 3, the club travelled to Bletchley St Martins Bowls Club where once again the came away as the victors, winning by 92 shots to 53.

The highest winning triple this time being ArthurAmbridge, Jacqui Squires and Carly Devereux-Jones.

On Sunday May 4 Wolverton Town entertained Stony Stratford Bowls Club.

On a beautiful, sunny afternoon, they continued their winning streak by emerging as victors by 84 shots to 65.

The highest winning rink being Alan Russell, Carly Devereux-Jones, Lynn Godfrey and Richard Newcombe.

Club Captain Joe Swain said: “ Despite being one of the smallest in the area, I’m confident that Wolverton Town Bowls Club will continue to strengthen, and will be in a strong position to defend last years success in the Bletchley and District (MIxed) League.

“And I believe the Ladies Team will once again triumph in the Burnham Plate too!”

The club is also very proud of the fact that Carly Devereux-Jones has been selected for a trial for the England U25s ladies team.
