Wright leaves as the exodus continues
Winger becomes the latest to exit stadium:mk
With the countdown now on to the start of the new League One season, MK Dons are facing a massive rebuilding job with midfielder Mark Wright becoming the latest player to leave the club.
The 27-year-old will bring his two-year spell at stadium:mk to an end when he joins Brighton and Hove Albion on a free transfer on July 1. He had moved to Milton Keynes from Walsall in July 2007.
His departure means Dons now have just 13 first-team players left on their books, including three teenagers.
Wright was the club's leading scorer in the side that won the League Two title and Johnstone's Paint Trophy in 2008. In two seasons he made 78 appearances and scored 20 goals.
"It's been a great two years and it was a hard decision for me to leave," he said.
"I loved my time in Milton Keynes, it's a great club with great fans and I can't say a bad word about it.
"The fans have been unbelievable from the first day I signed. Their support is just brilliant and I'll miss them."
Meanwhile the Citizen understands that former Dons defender Miguel Llera is also about to sign for another League One side.
The Spaniard has been in talks with Charlton Athletic and player and club are thought to be close to agreeing a deal.
