MK Victors boxer John Crawley can think himself unlucky after he was adjudged to have lost on points in Oxford on Saturday.
As a late replacement, the youngster took on experienced boxer Declan Townsend and held his own.
There were plenty of eyebrows raised though when the judges came back with their decision, awarding Townsend the victory.
But Hamza Mahmood continued his fine form in the ring in Stevenage as he took on another experienced fighter in Christy McCarthy from Islington.
Hamza needn’t have worried though as he was a clear victor on the night, helped when he floored his opponent in the third round, forcing McCarthy to take a standing count.
Hamza and team-mate Faraz Abid begin their campaign to join the Junior Amateur Boxing Association this Sunday.
>> MK Victors and Bedford ABC are holding a show on Saturday May 24 at Stantonbury Campus.
On the card, hot prospects Connor Wright and Emal Didda will be in action, while Adam Boniface will make his return to the ring after a 10 year absence.
Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for U14s.
