Build up to the big event has started
Put your best foot forward and register to walk, jog or run the Race for Life at Campbell Park, Milton Keynes.
Events are being held on Saturday, May 30, and Sunday May 31, both starting at 11am.
It's hoped 5,500 women will raise over £360,000 for life-saving research.
And taking part really does help. Since the Race for Life series started 16 years ago, the overall death rate for cancer has dropped by 15 per cent. Thanks to research, thousands more people now survive.
Cancer Research UK is funding over 100 clinical trials, several of which involve people in Buckinghamshire.
People in Milton Keynes can take part in a trial testing whether a new drug called celecoxib can improve the treatment of bladder cancer.
Clinical trials like that are vital to find new and better ways to detect and treat cancer and give more people the opportunity to receive the latest treatments.
Event manager Kate Franklow said: "Taking part in Race for Life is another great way to support Cancer Research UK's work and have fun at the same time.
"Women of all ages, abilities, shapes and sizes take part. They motivate and inspire each other to complete the 5k course.
"Many simply walk round, chatting and having fun but they all share the wonderful spirit of sisterhood and pride on the day."
