Shane Clarke was named Chef of the Year

The best food and leisure outlets in Milton Keynes were revealed at a glitzy awards ceremony last night.

The MK Food & Leisure Awards bash took place at Jury’s Inn in CMK last night, with gongs awarded for titles including best chef, best restaurant and dish of the year.

More than 3,000 votes were submitted in the Citizen backed awards, with some categories going right down to the wire.

The full list of winners was:

* Gym of the year - Kiss Gyms

* Best Serviced Apartments - Cotels

* Hotel of the year under 50 rooms - Villiers Hotel, Buckingham

* Hotel of the year 50+ rooms – Moore Place Hotel, Aspley Guise Village

* Best Destination or Attraction – Milton Keynes Theatre

* Best cafe/coffee shop - Buskers coffee shop in Wolverton

* Pub of the Year – The Black Horse in Woburn

* Bar of the year - The Living Room

* Family restaurant of the year – Nandos in Xscape

* Best Asian restaurant – Silk Road

* Branded restaurant of the year – Zizzi in The Theatre District

* Best newcomer restaurant – The Plough in Simpson

* Best restaurant – The Swan in Salford

* Waiter of the year – Chris Walters from Moore Place Hotel in Aspley Guise

* Waitress of the year – Tracey Tunnicliffe from The Swan in Woburn Sands

* Starter dish of the year – Scallops at the Parkside Hotel in Woughton on the Green

* Main dish of the year – Three meat Sunday roast at The Swan in Woburn Sands

* Dessert of the year – Sticky toffee pudding at The Swan Inn, MK Village

• Asian chef of the year – Runner-up: Nauman Faraz from VerandahTalk

Winner: Abdul Salam from Calcutta Brasserie

* Chef of the year – Third: Sean Austin, Black Horse Woburn

Second: Dave Green, Mercure Parkside at Woughton on the Green

First: Shane Clarke, The Swan Salford
