Milton Keynes based soprano Emily Haig will be performing the national anthem at the Women’s FA Cup Final at stadium:mk on Sunday.

Emily said: “I was thrilled and honoured to be asked to perform the national anthem for the FA Women’s Cup Final. I’m really delighted to be a part of such a major sporting event, especially as it is taking place at stadium:mk, in my home town.

“I am so looking forward to hearing the crowd join in with the anthem and to experiencing the atmosphere just before kick-off.

“I know it will be a really memorable occasion for me and I wish both teams all the very best for the match.”

Emily was also the soprano soloist for last year’s highly successful Proms in the Park with the Milton Keynes City Orchestra and has been asked to keep the date free for their concert on August 15 this year at Campbell Park.

>Arsenal star Alex Scott visited Milton Keynes on Wednesday as part of her preparation for her appearance at the FA Women’s Cup Final.

Arsenal and Everton will face each other in the showpiece final. Alex, who has won the FA Women’s Cup eight times, visited Snozone MK, and also watched a group of girls taking part in the MK Dons Sport & Education Trust half-term football courses at MK Dons training ground. The youngsters received top tips on developing their skills and improving their play.

Alex said: “It’s exciting that the cup final is getting closer and it’s great to meet these young girls. They all said they are going to be at the game. It’s important they see their role models actually live in action, so hopefully we can inspire them, the next generation coming through.”

Tickets for the final are on sale priced from £10 for adults and £5 for children. A family ticket (two adults and two children) is available at £20. Other concessions and group discounts apply. The FA Girls’ Youth Cup Final will take place from 1pm. See www.mkdons.com/tickets or 01908 622 900.

Stars from Arsenal and Everton visited stadium:mk today ahead of their appearance at next week’s FA Women’s Cup Final.

The teams, who will face each other in the showpiece final next Sunday, June 1, were welcomed to the stadium by MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman.

Arsenal will look to lift the prestigious trophy for the second season in a row and for the 13th time in the club’s history – more than any other club. Defender Alex Scott, who has won the FA Women’s Cup eight times, says this game is just as exciting as her first final.

She said: “It doesn’t matter how many times you get to the final, it’s always amazing to be there and the excitement and nerves are just the same.

“We know how much it means to win it and what that feels like, that’s what’s driving the team on. This is a fantastic stadium and it’ll be a brilliant day, and I can’t wait to walk out of that tunnel next week.”

Everton will be hoping for a repeat of their last appearance in the Cup Final, when they beat Arsenal 3-2 after extra time in 2010.

Jody Handley, who captained Everton to that win, said: “Being here alongside the Arsenal girls today in a stadium like this really brings home just what a huge game the FA Women’s Cup Final is.

“We really want to win the trophy and being here today has made me even more excited for the game. I know there are a lot of Everton fans travelling down to the game and I’m sure they’ll have a great day out in Milton Keynes.”

Fellow Blue, Faye Bryson, also visited the stadium ahead of her side’s appearance in the FA Girls’ Youth Cup Final against Merseyside rivals Liverpool. The match will precede the women’s final, kicking off at 1pm, and tickets are valid for both games.

She said: “It’s really exciting to be in a Cup Final and even more exciting that it’s against Liverpool. It’s the biggest stadium most of the team have ever played in, and I can’t wait for kick-off.”

Tickets for the final are on sale now priced from £6 adults and £3 children, while a family ticket (two adults and two children) is available at £15. Other concessions and group discounts apply.

The FA Women’s Cup Final will also be shown live on BBC Two from 4pm (KO 4.30pm).

Tickets are available from www.mkdons.com/tickets or 01908 622 900.
