Big bash starts with free live concert
The wait is almost up for Barron Knight Pete Langford, and for the expected thousands of other visitors to this weekend's 15th annual Woburn Oyster Festival – the seafood sorts will start slithering down the throat on Friday night!

It's not a spectacular weekend for Ollie Oyster and his pals, it has to be said, but everyone else will have a ball at the big bash, which lights up the historic village.

The Barron Knights will pull the start cord on the event schedule on Friday evening with a free live concert on The Green, opposite The Inn, from 7.30pm.

Food (and we aren't only talking about oysters here) will be served, and if you fancy a sup, you'll be in luck too – bubbly, beer and Pimms will definitely figure.

Make tracks back to the action on Saturday, the annual opportunity to peruse the giant flea market happening in the hub of the village between 10am and 5pm, with more entertainment on The Green between 2pm and 5pm and food and a bar on the Pitchings all day long.

In the evening there will be further free live entertainment – this time it's Rick Stone and The Riverside Band who will rouse you, from 7.15pm.

Sunday is Funday from midday with street entertainment and still more food and drink to indulge in.

All weekend a funfair and craft stalls will colour up the event, an art exhibition will make a big splash over at the school, and various stalls will take your attentions at The Heritage Centre on Bedford Street.

The Oyster Festival will wrap up at 5pm on the Sunday. It's going to be a wonderful weekend at one of our prettiest spots. Be sure to sample it at least once. Pete certainly will. He's been ready and waiting for ages.
