MANY others try their hands at band competitions, but they have not the staying power, the prizes nor the prestige that comes with annual City Nights and Pitz Band Blitz.

2008 marks the tenth year of the competition – a decade of discovering new acts. And what a lot there have been: by the time the curtain falls on this year's big bash some 200 bands will have shown out under the title. That's pretty incredible.

Marshall Amplification have backed the event since early days and as time has moved on, more and more local companies have also stepped forward to support the Blitz. A big thank you to all of those that give to this event and make it an invaluable breeding ground for new talent.

This year's competition will run from August 1. Eyes down then for the heats, the bands and the prizes...

Heat One:
Friday August 1
False Alibis
Rise Inside
Kieran Durcan
Trash Monkey

Heat Two:
Friday August 8
Stanislav
Februa
Meggidddo
Drop The Act

Heat Three:
Friday August 15
Temples Burning
Sovrin
Taylormade
Acacia Close

Heat Four:
Friday August 22
Stonebroke
Tombstone Bullets
The Vision
Rusty G's

Heat Five:
Friday August 29
After This Plague
Zeitgeist
Between Order And Model
Incendia

By the time we reach the all important Grand Final – on Friday, September 12 – we'll have five bands in the running for a stab at some cracking prizes including a recording session at Studio 33, a recording session at Eastwood Studio, band merchandise (T-shirts) from Dare2Wear, a Marshall Amp, three rehearsal sessions at Graveyard Music Studio, Blackstar Valve Pedals, a cash prize, professional photoshoot, headline Pitz gig and a feature on this very page...oh, and the opportunity to pen a song for use on MK Dons TV!
