Meet the Parks Trust's live lawnmowers this Sunday!
Pull on your wellies and meet some live lawnmowers - the cows and sheep that help The Parks Trust to manage the parks and green spaces of Milton Keynes.
The Parks Trust has over 1,000 sheep and cows that graze pastures, hay meadows and parks far more sensitively than an electric lawnmowers and they're also environmentally friendly too.
The Trust has organised a farming event 'Raw Hide' for people to meet some of its farming experts, animals and to discover what it takes to look after sheep and cows in Milton Keynes.
The event will take place at Woughton-on-the Green this Sunday, May 11, from 10.30am until 12.30pm and costs £2.50.
It will provide adults and children with the opportunity to discover interesting facts about grazing animals, what they nibble and why they make great wildlife conservationists.
Children can follow a number of trails and get crafty making their own cows to take home. There will also be the opportunity to sample some locally produced beef from the barbecue for free.
Sheep, cattle and even some goats graze around 700 of the Trust's 4,500 acres of parkland throughout the city, including Campbell Park, the Ouse and Ouzel Valleys and Willen Island.
They are a vital conservation tool, helping to manage large areas of grassland in order to create a much richer diversity of wildlife. Their nibbling deters weeds and scrub and encourages the growth of wildflower rich meadows.
Places are limited for this event and booking is essential please contact The Parks Trust on 01908 255 379 or visit www.theparkstrust.com for more information.
