What Happens In Vegas (12A)

WE all know the story – you go out, have one too many and then end up doing something completely out of the ordinary.

What happens, though, if you do all that in the glamorous surroundings of Las Vegas? Two strangers (Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher) journey to Las Vegas at the same time to forget their troubles and have some fun.

The only problem is, the two
of them take the 'fun' part a little bit too far and meet in the midst of a big night out when they have both had a few too many drinks and get caught up in the moment.

One thing leads to another and eventually they end up in one of the many wedding chapels that fill the streets.

The next morning they wake up together to discover they're now married following their night of debauchery in Sin City, and one of them has won a huge jackpot after playing the other's quarter. No-one knows who the jackpot belongs to, as the player and the owner of the quarter try to claim ownership of the prize money.

After a judge passes a ruling, sentencing them to 'six months hard marriage' and putting a freeze on their winnings for that time, the newlyweds devise ever-escalating schemes to undermine each other and get their hands on the money – only to find themselves falling in love amid the mutual backstabbing.

In the beginning, each sees the other as an obstacle to the money that is rightfully theirs and amidst the headaches and dollar signs can't for the life of them remember what they must have seen in each other. Was it the alcohol that brought them together or were they both looking for a shoulder to cry on? Nobody knows.

One thing is for sure, the only hope they'll ever have of getting together is if they forget all about the money. However, forgetting about $3 million is easier said than done. Will they fall in love for real, or will they vow that What Happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
