First solo exhibition in UK
Richard Woods is hosting his first-ever solo exhibition in a British public gallery here at MK G.

Not that you'll need to step inside the venue to get a glimpse of his creations – his work will literally cover the Gallery facade in a repeat pattern of imaginary corporate logos devised by the artist.

Woods is well known and equally regarded for his architectural intervention and transformation, and his artistic hand has touched far and wide – from a British stately home to a Venetian courtyard, and from public buildings to New York-based boutique stores.

Apparently he is exploring the relationship between 'functionality' and 'decoration' and to that end, motifs range from simple red brick work through to intricate floral designs and pastiches of Tudor or 18th century Baroque styles.

The show – Flora & Fauna – will be at MK G through to late September, and will also feature recent sculptures, new wall-based ceramic works and large-scale marquetry panels.

We know that art is an incredibly personal thing, and we know, too, that recent MK G exhibitor Cathy Wilkes has been shortlisted for the Turner Prize, but we think that Woods' work is going to be a whole lot more appealing to us...

As ever, popping in for a nosey will cost nothing, and as we said there is plenty of opportunity to take a look.

With the best part of three months to find your way to the theatre district location, and with the building so ornately decorated, find your way you most certainly will...

Call MK G for further information on MK 676900.
