A cycling sherriff had some bone-shaking fun when he took a step back in time last week.
Buckinghamshire High Sherriff Joe Barclay was visiting Milton Keynes Museum to learn about the £7.3 million expansion plans, and as a keen cyclist himself he couldn’t resist trying the museum’s selection of vintage bikes that go back to 1865, including a 150-year-old Velocipede model with metal tyres known as the Boneshaker.
Mr Barclay has raised £26,000 for local charities during his year in office through his cycling exploits.
He said: ““I found the farming gallery and the transport section very interesting and the railway exhibits are fabulous.
“So much of what people can see in the Museum would have been totally lifechanging in its day, much as the computer or mobile have been for us.”
Milton Keynes Museum has now moved to winter opening hours, and is open every weekend from 11am-4.30pm. Find out more at www.mkmusem.org.uk
