MK Gallery Project Space is currently hosting Images of India, an attractive exhibition by eight and nine year-old pupils from Old Stratford Primary School.
Over the last few months the youngsters have been exploring a cross-curricular topic about India, working with in-house artist Nichola Clarke to look in detail at the patterns, textures and vibrant colours that permeate Indian culture.
Using a range of media - from recycled packaging to papier-mache, the youngsters have created beautiful birds, puppet portraits in bright boxes, exotic elephants and even a proud peacock.
“The children have responded to the theme of Indian culture in imaginative and innovative ways, and were clearly inspired and excited by the traditional patterns, lively colours and use of metallic paints and reflective surfaces,” said MK Gallery learning co-ordinator Hannah Gaunt.
The colourful show continues to the end of March.
