Have your say

JUDGING by the response we had following our Record Day feature a while back, people still like their vinyl...when they can get it.

With no dedicated vinyl stockist in Central Milton Keynes, we asked Northampton-based Spun Out Records for the top five sellers right now...

1 Chase & Status – Time (Ram)

Currently the biggest commercial Drum & Bass tune out, with heavy radio playing sinking the gorgeous vocals deep into every listeners subconscious

2 Smerins Anti Social Club – Doctor Who (Tru Thoughts)

Trust the Tru Thoughts label to come up with brand new tunes that conjure up nostalgic sentiments while introducing new artists to the world.

This nine piece band from Bristol put an addictive slant on the Doctor Who theme with a breakneck Ska rhythm pinning down their take on the melody

3 Gorillaz – The Fall (Parlophone)

The Gorillaz Record Store Day exclusive release is an epic aural interpretation of the sights, smells and experiences of their last tour of

America, penned like a diary during downtime moments.

With titles like The Parish of Spacedust and Seattle Yodel, the trip obviously made a big impression.

As with many Record Store Day releases, this is a limited vinyl only pressing and once its gone, its gone!

4 Various – Circle One EP (Circus)

An immense collection of Dubstep tunes featuring Towcester artist Flux Pavilio’s ultra large Bass Canon. This is the tune donated to Radio One’s Chris Moyles to rouse him from drowsy moments during his marathon DJ set for Red Nose Day.

All four tunes on this EP are outstanding.

A real case of all killer, no filler

5 The Mobbs – Jolly Good (BB Rex)

Local band The Mobbs rock out with some punk power blues riffing and quirky gentrified John Lydon style lyrics.

Jolly Good does what it says on the tin and will stick in your brain.

Forthcoming big releases include the much awaited vinyl release of the new Beastie Boys album

Hotsaucecommitteeparttwo, and two cool remix EPs – Depeche Mode’s Personal Jesus 2011 and David Bowie’s Golden Years 2011 which will be in store in the coming weeks.
