ONE of the Bard’s most familiar works gets an outing in Milton Keynes from Wednesday, as Pepper’s Ghost Theatre Company present A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
But humour isn’t the only element cut loose in this piece, for it also features threatening and frightening moments for its central characters...to that end, the audience can expect tension, hurt and humiliation.
And those elements of farce!
The darker side of human nature will rear its head before the play wraps up on a sweet note.
But don’t forget that ‘the course of truth love never did run smooth.’
So far as this delivery is concerned, the role of the audience isn’t simply to sit and absorb either.
Those of you purchasing for a performance will become part of the surreal forest.
It’s a leafy business, but someone has got to do it!
Organisers told GO! that the cast have put in weeks of hard work and promise that A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be ‘a truly spellbinding production, enchanting confirmed Shakespeare fans and novices alike.’
And it has been chosen as part of the RSC’s Open Stages Project.
Performances are happening at Wolverton’s Madcap Theatre, from Wednesday and nightly through to Saturday.
Show times are 7.30pm and the curtain will also rise for a matinee on Saturday afternoon, from 2.30pm.
Tickets will set you back £10 and £8.
