PREPARED to have shivers shoot down your spine when the Gothic horror classic The Pit and the Pendulum comes to The Grove nexy month.
It’s a chilling theatrical experience with a mystery twist in the tale. Set in Cornwall in the 1820s, a time rich in smugglers and daring-do, hard-working farmer William Trevelyan makes a foolhardy attempt to rescue his young wife from the clutches of a wicked and lascivious Hellfire Club...
William finds himself at their mercy, held captive in a cavern beneath a house, where he is tortured by the nightmare of a living grave, the nameless dread of a fathomless pit ... and the inevitability of the swinging pendulum with its razor-sharp blade.
The Pit and the Pendulum stars Mark Homer (EastEnders’ Tony Hills, Silent Witness and Casualty) and Nicholas Briggs (whose movies include Adulthood and 18.104.22.168. plus he’s the terrifying voice of The Daleks and Cybermen in Dr Who. His other TV appearances include Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures).
The Pit and the Pendulum will be at the Grove Theatre from September 9/10. For tickets call the box office 01582 602080 or go online www.grovetheatre.co.uk
