Visitors to Stowe House can look forward to a season of special experiences, family activities and exclusive tours as the historic house returns to daily opening for spring.

From March, Stowe House is open every day from 10.30am to 4.30pm, offering visitors the chance to explore the grand State Rooms and discover the stories behind one of Britain’s most remarkable historic houses. Early spring is an ideal time to visit, when the House can be enjoyed at a gentler pace before the Easter holidays begin.

During the Easter holiday period, visitors will also be able to take part in a range of exclusive tours and family-friendly activities, many of which are only available at certain times of year due to the building’s unique role as a working school.

Among the highlights are the popular Secrets of Stowe tours, which take visitors beyond the usual route through the House. These behind-the-scenes experiences reveal hidden spaces, lesser-known histories and fascinating details rarely shared on the main tour.

For those looking to see the building from a different perspective, Rooftop Tours will also return during the Easter holidays. These special tours offer a rare opportunity to step onto the roofline itself, providing sweeping views across the surrounding landscape and a closer look at the architecture of the House.

Secrets of Stowe tour dates:

  • 28 March at 2pm
  • 29 March at 12pm

Families visiting during the Easter holidays will also find activities designed especially for younger visitors. From 28 March to 19 April, children can follow a themed trail through the State Rooms and take part in a self-led make-and-take craft activity.

Stowe House remains an affordable day out for families, with children’s admission priced at £3 and under-fives admitted free.

Visitors this spring will also notice a striking addition to the South Front Portico, where two statues of Cybele and Juno have recently been reinstated. One is a direct copy of the original statue now located in Los Angeles, while the second had to be carefully recreated after the original figure was lost. Using historic research and comparable depictions of the goddess Juno, skilled craftspeople have restored the pair so they once again frame the grand entrance as originally intended.
