First fiction from Little Horwood writer

‘Attempting to complete ones first book, feels a bit like running an eternal marathon. One knows the finish line is somewhere out of view but for too long does not seem to be getting closer’, says Roderick Groundes-Peace of Little Horwood.

The publication of his book The Voyage of the Skara Brae and other tales is to be released on 28th November. The lead story is the sailing adventure of a couple who face love and danger as extraordinary circumstances are thrust upon them.

‘For my first book I was determined to offer readers the opportunity to briefly delve into a number of other worlds from an assortment of five short stories.’

The setting for all the stories differ, including crossing the Indian Ocean, days in Oxford, espionage in Italy, and life in Yorkshire at the end of the Great War.

‘Although I have edited three non fiction books in the past, this is my first foray into fiction publishing.

'Dependent on how this book is received will help me decide whether to continue writing for an audience. Whichever way, I am glad to have reached the finish line after five years. I can understand why it is said that the process is 10 per cent inspiration and 90 per cent perspiration!’
