Music legends make their debut at The Grove

THE Grove continues its spring season with the debut of a legendary group. The hits of The Springfields tells the story of The Springfields, Dusty, Tom and Mike from the beginning as a pop/folk act, through to Dusty’s solo work, Tom’s hits with The Seekers and Mike’s hits with Cat Stevens, Manfred Mann, PP Arnold, Spencer Davies, Showaddywaddy and Shakin’ Stevens.

But this isn’t just a music based story it is a living jukebox of hits and a journey through 40 years of history. Mike Hurst, who made up the original group with Dusty and Tom Springfield, has now celebrated 50 years in the business and the show is a tribute to one of the country’s best-loved acts.

Mike, an original member of the group, went on to become one of the most successful producers of the 60s, 70s and 80s.

He’s joined on stage by Marina Berry, who has five years experience as a session singer and backing vocalist for various artists, Andy Marlow, Clem Cattini (Britain’s top session drummer), Ray Fenwick and Colin Farley.

Playing for one night only on February 3.

A day later the great showman, Steve Steinman, returns for his annual gig at the venue. Carnival Du Vampires Rock sees the team back with a great playlist of rock anthems (Meatloaf, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, Queen, White Snake and Cher - can it get any better?), a notoriously daft story about the evil Baron Von Rockula, lots of sexy dancers and musicians, pyrotechnics and fun. Its a comedy rock spectacular from a formidable talent who originally made his name as a Meatloaf tribute act who even impressed his mentor. Not to be missed.

The week is completed by a return of The Virtuosi GUS brass band who will be performing hits from film and stage on February 5.
