The rock ‘n’ roll in Stony’s soul...

The festival, which launched on Saturday, still has a couple of days left before the curtain falls on another year, when more than 70 events will have taken place.

Talk about packing them in!

As ever, the organising committee have come up trumps on all counts, so no matter whether it’s a taste of 70s soul that you seek, or rock n roll to shake a leg to, you’ll be able to get your fill.

We couldn’t possibly hope to spill the details on all those shows remaining, so we’ve picked five of our faves to share with you, and suggest you head online to the website at www.stonylive.info for every spit and cough of those many other remaining events...

Thursday night at Stony’s Fox & Hounds watering hole is long established as the night when Terry Marshall’s Jazz & Blues Jam Session provides a snuggly, pre-weekend session of class and cool.

Think of layered versions of standards including Summertime and Georgia On My Mind spun out in a tidy, homely environment.

Chill out, relax and let Terry and his cohorts take the musical strain.

The music starts at 8.30pm, admission is free.

On Friday, Vin Garbutt takes the reins for a special Song Loft session.

Witty, powerful and with a clear social conscience, he also boasts a distinctive voice, along with a certain talent at the guitar and as a whistle player.

Vin is a great talent and a man whose success comes simply from the word of mouth of those fans who have felt his talent for themselves.

This is his 40th year on the road too, because talent like his is always in demand.

It’s an 8.15pm start, tickets are £12.

Blues fans can walk through the history of the genre tomorrow night with the show Worried Life Blues taking the listener from its origins of the 19th century to the rocking electric blues of Chicago and Detroit.

Live music will feature at the free event from 8pm upstairs at The Crown.

Family fun will be the name of the game at the Riverside Fair in Millfield on Saturday from 1pm.

Punch & Judy, fairground rides, circus skills and a bug hunt will blend with a Brass Band...

On Sunday, The Vaults Bar Music Workshop will begin at 12.30pm.

Bring an instrument, your voice, or simply an interest and enjoy the fine food and ale served barside from 12.30pm.

The Last Gasp at The White Horse wraps up Stony Live! for another year and it’s Acchord who will make you dance. Entry is free from 8.30pm on Saturday.

Get along nice and early, see out the festival in style and lift a glass to friends present, and those dearly departed but long remembered, who have helped make Stony the buzzing, vibrant place that it is.

Shall we do it all again in another 12 months? O’course we shall...
