A spokesman for the company said: “Nampak is an organisation that believes passionately that everyone has a talent and giving people an opportunity to realise their potential is crucial to the success of the business.

“That is why we are delighted to be sponsoring the award for Excellence in People Development.”

Nampak Plastics has eight sites in the UK and last year it opened a new plant in Northern Ireland.

Nampak manufactures HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) bottles for the food and drink industry, predominantly manufacturing milk bottles for the major players in the dairy industry.

Nampak has developed the use of recycled HDPE into its own HDPE plastic containers.

The company has been on its own journey to improve as a company. In November 2010 Nampak received the CIPD award for Employee Engagement.

The spokesman explained: “This marked the success of a major culture change programme within the business that had begun in 2007, resulting in a complete reversal of employee advocacy with 80 per cent of employees now believing that Nampak is a great place to work.

“Much of this success can be attributed to the focus that Nampak has placed on learning and development.”
