Co-op shop opens in Milton Keynes following £575,000 investment

A Co-op store in Milton Keynes has opened following a £575,000 investment - and it has also provided 14 jobs in the community

The store opened today (Thursday, November 5) in Newton Road, Bletchley, and the Co-op boss for the MK area said he is delighted to be able to better serve the community.

Abdul Wahid, Co-op area manager, said: “The store has a great look and feel, and we have worked to develop the range, choice, products and services locally that will create a really compelling offer and enable the store team to serve the community quickly, easily, safely and, conveniently."

Mr Wahid said the Co-op is committed to connecting the community, making a difference and operating at the heart of local life.

According to the Co-op, the near 3,000 sq ft store runs on 100 per cent renewable electricity, and includes a customer car park, in-store bakery and coffee, alongside a focus on fresh, healthy produce, ready meals and pizzas, free-from and vegan products, Fairtrade, food-to-go and, everyday essentials.

The store also offers home delivery through Co-op’s use of autonomous robots in Milton Keynes.

A Co-op spokesperson also said that students who are TOTUM cardholders - the new name for NUS extra – can pocket a 10 per cent discount off groceries and that contactless card payment limits are increased to £45, making it easier, quicker and safer to shop.
