A major factor in Milton Keynes' top ten placing was commute time, only Peterborough and Telford could also boast an average commute time of under 15-minutes. A median annual wage of £28,545 also ranked in the top 5.

Middling scores for happiness and life satisfaction in the survey denied Milton Keynes a spot among the medal places. With a 37-hour working week and residents saying on average they work 3-hours overtime also negatively impacting the overall score.

Edinburgh came out on top, comfortably beating 2nd placed Bournemouth and 3rd placed Brighton and Hove, to the title. The Scottish capital boasts the lowest average working week at 35 hours, and a median overtime required of 2.3 hours, also a lowest average.

The top four destinations to work are all on the coast with Southend-On-Sea completing the quartet.
