When asked to verify this information by the MK Citizen a spokesperson for the retail giants offered the following comment, saying: "We’re pleased to be refreshing and upgrading our Milton Keynes Heelands Express store to offer an even better experience for our customers.
"To allow the works to take place the store will close temporarily from the evening of May 9 for approximately four weeks and we apologise for any inconvenience for our customers during this short closure.”
Tesco is refreshing the store with new units, fixtures, fittings and redecoration during the estimated four-week closure.
The nearest alternative Tesco site is the giant store in Wolverton which is one-and-a-half miles away. Click and collect services are also available on the Tesco website.
