On Friday March 26, A Pizza This, the family ran business, operating on Willen Lake, announced their contract ends on May 31, 2021.

For the past four years the pizza business had operated from the lake, but its contract with the Parks Trust isn't being renewed.

A spokesperson for the business said the following in a statement released on Facebook: "Over the last four years our family run business, A Pizza This, has been serving delicious wood fired pizzas from our VW campervan at Willen Lake South.

"Unfortunately, last week we were told by The Parks Trust that our contract would come to an end on the 31st May 2021. This came as a complete shock to us, as I’m sure it will to our wonderful customers too, as we were led to believe that we were part of the future plans of Willen Lake South.

"We have been told that our contract not being renewed is related to the new cafe/restaurant that is currently being built, which has a focus on woodfired pizza and who have been given exclusivity for hot food at Willen Lake."

Two days ago a petition was started in a last ditch attempt to stop the business having to relocate. Rachel Wilkes-Fernandes who started the petition said: "I'm not sure how successful this petition will be - but it has to be worth a try - before another small family business gets swallowed up by the corporate system!"

At the time of writing 1,350 residents have signed the petition, which can be found here.
