The company has provided the "very best" working environment for employees through their progressive people-first HR practices, said judges from the Top Employers Institute.
The institute assessed Santander's attitude towards its employees against a number of criteria including workforce planning, learning and development, performance management, career and succession management and culture.

And the company emerged as a "shining example" of how to treat workers, say the institute.
Santander UK’s Chief HR Officer Vicky Wallis said: “It’s fantastic to be a Top Employer for the fifth year. Top Employer status is a genuine mark of recognition and a significant achievement."
she added: " We’re proud of the progress we have made in continuing to focus our efforts on creating a thriving workplace for all our colleagues, which has most recently included launching a new digital learning platform and an employee wellbeing hub. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to make Santander a top company to work for that helps people and businesses prosper.”
Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink said: "To become recognised as a Top Employer, an organisation will have to prove that the implementation of their people strategies enriches the world of work of their employees. The certified participants are a shining example of a dedication to people practices as they continuously commit to empowering their employees for a better world of work."
