Compass Community School Redwood Park opens on Monday

Compass Community School Redwood Park will officially open to learners on Monday 24th November. The news is causing a real sense of excitement across the community. After months of careful preparation, the school team is ready to welcome its first cohort and begin delivering the kind of tailored, therapeutic education that Compass is well known for.
Redwood Park is a new specialist setting for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers places for up to 90 learners aged 7 to 19, with each year group based in its own building on a single campus. This structure supports small learning communities and allows each child to settle in a setting that feels safe, consistent and built around their needs.
Class sizes at Redwood Park are kept low—never more than six per group—and learners benefit from a highly personalised curriculum, developed with input from a multi-disciplinary team. Alongside academic subjects, there’s a strong focus on therapeutic support, vocational skills and building confidence for life beyond school.
Redwood Park reflects Compass Community Schools’ holistic model of education—one that recognises the individual circumstances of each learner and provides them with the support they need to succeed. This approach has proved consistently successful across Compass’ national network of schools, where learners routinely make progress that far exceeds their previous settings. With an emphasis on support, belonging and aspiration, Compass schools help young people rebuild their confidence and look to the future with hope.
Although the team had originally hoped to open Redwood Park in September, the delay has only strengthened their determination to provide the best possible start for the young people they serve. From Monday 24th November, the school will begin welcoming its first learners, with others joining gradually over the coming weeks. As families prepare for transition visits and settling-in sessions, the school is already buzzing with positive energy and anticipation.
Regional Director of Education Services East, Joanna Cliffe, has greatly looked forward to the school’s opening. “I am absolutely delighted to share that Redwood Park is opening for pupils on Monday 24th November,” she said. “Our staff team are in contact with all families to confirm transition plans and we look forward to welcoming our new pupils over the next few weeks.”
Redwood Park marks an important investment in SEND education across Milton Keynes—bringing much-needed specialist provision to the area and creating new opportunities for children to thrive.
