Milton Keynes secondary school forced to close its doors to two year groups due to staff self-isolation

Lord Grey Academy in Bletchley is closing for Year 9 and Year 10 pupils from tomorrow but will continue to operate for other year groups.

Principal Jim Parker said the latest government advice about self isolation has had a "significant impact" on the the number of his staff who are able to attend work.

"As a result we need to make a partial closure of the school," he said.

"We have considered all options very carefully and have prioritised our year groups who are sitting public exams and our younger students who are not at an age where they can be at home unsupervised.

"We have decided that from tomorrow students in Year 9 and Year 10 should not attend school for the rest of this week. Staff will be preparing work for the students to do via on-line resources and we will be reminding them today of their passwords and log in details.

Mr Parker concluded: "We hope that the first pieces of work will be available from tomorrow. I am very sorry that we have had to make this decision but we cannot provide an education for all year groups with the number of staff that we have available."
