The council received 3,830 applications last October's deadline (compared to 3,701 in 2018). Of these, 78 per cent pupils received their first preference school, eight per cent of pupils received their second preference and four per cent received their third preference school. Three per cent have allocated their fourth preference school

Councillor Zoe Nolan, Cabinet member for children and families said: “We have never received so many applications but we projected this increase and have been working hard to prepare. We are expanding and developing existing schools whilst planning for the longer term with new schools where appropriate.”

She added: “Milton Keynes continues to be a popular choice for families looking to settle in the region. We’re really proud of that fact and will continue to ensure we provide a good school place for every child. We are delighted that the vast majority of our children have landed a preferred choice.”
