Builders drill through mains water pipe at Milton Keynes Hospital causing disruption

A drilling incident has been reported affecting some wards and clinical areas' ability to access water.

On site builders drilled through a mains water pipe leading to a loss of water access in the hospital.

The incident took place at 09.30am this morning (February 23) and reserve tanks are in place meaning the hospital still has access to water.

Patients are being told to arrive for appointments as normal and check the hospital website here for updates.

The use of reserve tanks means most wards and clinical areas are still operational.

A spokesperson for the Milton Keynes University Hospital said the following in a statement on the hospital website: "The full extent of the issue and the timescale for recovering the mains water supply is still being assessed.

"The hospital has declared an internal incident because of the potential for disruption to services if repairs are unable to be undertaken quickly."
