16 new Covid-19 cases in Milton Keynes today as Boris Johnson announces new three-tier lockdown system

There have been 16 new positive Covid-19 tests in Milton Keynes over a 24-hour period according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The total number of positive tests in MK since recording began in the pandemic now stands at 1,410, - up 16 on the previous figure.

There have been 603,716 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

The daily number of deaths of people who have had a positive test result and died within 28 days, reported on Monday, 12 October, was 50 bringing the revised total to 42,875.

There was one new death in the South East region.

There were another 13,972 positive tests in the UK bringing the overall total to 617,688.

In Milton Keynes there have been 106 recorded deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Nationally, the death toll has been 'recalculated' by officials. The new count is based on a new definition of who has died from Covid-19.

Previously, people in England who died at any stage following a positive test, regardless of the cause of their death, were counted in the figures.

However, there is now a cut off point of 28 days from the first laboratory-confirmed positive COVID test.
