Paul Gordon is supplying the dome itself and his time for free, but he is appealing for help from other builders, electricians and roofers to get the project off the ground at Portfields Primary in Newport Pagnell.

He has also launched a fundraising page here to help with the cost of materials.

Paul said: "Getting the kids back to school isn’t going to be easy due to the coronavirus, with classroom space especially being a problem.

"I have spoken to Portfields school about donating and building a geodesic dome classroom, but I need your help. Even with giving my time for free it will still cost a little to make this project a success, so I’m hopeful that the parent community can come together.

"If you or any companies you work for can supply cheaply (or donate) sheet materials, insulation or electrical fittings please let me know. Equally if you are a roofer, carpenter, builder, sparky or you just have time to spare and want to get involved, it would be great to share the load... Let’s help the school to help our kids to get a safe education."
