Fifty coronavirus patients have died at Milton Keynes hospital since start of pandemic

The number of patients who have died at MK hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 has today risen to 50.

But the good news is that the daily death toll at the hospital is droppijng, with two days this week seeing no deaths at all.

However the number of coronavirus-linked deaths of elderly people in care homes in Milton Keynes is not included in this figure, and some experts have criticised the government for not revealing this sad statistic.

Today's figure for the number of positive Covid-19 tests at the hospital is 286. This is a rise of 13 from yesterday (Sunday). But again, this does not reveal the true extent of the virus in the community.

Nationally, the total number of confirmed cases is 88,621. Some 717 people have died since yesterday, bringing the total UK death toll to 11,329.

Despite government efforts to increase the number of people tested for coronavirus, testing fell from 18,000 tests on Saturday to 14,506 on Sunday.
