Four out of seven major supermarkets ease panic-buying restrictions in Milton Keynes

Four major supermarkets have today eased restrictions on many products to make it easier for customers to shop for other people who vulnerable and self-isolating.

.Aldi, Morrisons, Waitrose and Asda have all removed some limits completely and slackened others.

Aldi customers can buy as many as they wish of most items, but a limit of four per customer applies to more popular items, which include hand wash and soap, toilet roll, certain canned goods and alcohol. Hand sanitiser gel, long life milk and baby formula are still restricted to two per shopper.

Morrisons is upping limits on some items from three to four per customer. Other limits will be removed altogether in the hope it will make it easier for people to donate to their local food bank.

Morrisons bosses have pledged to donate £10m of food to food banks nationally.

Waitrose has removed limits on all fresh food, meaning meat, fish, poultry, fruit and vegetables now be purchased freely. They are not restricting alcohol and Easter goods, though limits still apply on the more popular stockpiled items.

Asda is removing limits on fruit, vegetables and all chilled products.

Tesco, Sainsbury's and Co-op have not yet changed their policies.

All the stores imposed restrictions when panic buying reached a frenzy last month.
