Hundreds of students from a school in Milton Keynes are self-isolating for 14 days after attending a party in Olney.

A Sixth Form student from Ousedale School, in Newport Pagnell, attended the party in woods in Olney on Saturday, September 5, and later tested positive for the virus.

Around 100 students from the school in Year 10 and above went to the party and are now all self-isolating for 14 days, until Sunday (September 20), according to headteacher Sue Carbert.

Mrs Carbert said: "I'm disappointed with this party in Olney that involved students from Year 10 upwards. It goes to show we have done lots at the school to be Covid-safe but obviously we are not in control of what goes on outside of school."

The infected Sixth Form student also attended school during this time and spent around an hour in their tutor group before the school and pupil were made aware of a positive result from a person the student had been with outside of school - the student was quickly taken out of the building, the headteacher said.

The 18 students in the tutor group and two teachers in the room at the time have also been advised to self-isolate for 14 days.

The headteacher said the school is working with and following Public Health England's guidelines, and that all other students are still to attend school unless they show symptoms of the virus.
