Is Milton Keynes bucking the national trend - in a good way - for coronavirus?

Today's figure for confirmed new Covid-19 cases in MK has risen by nine, which for the second day running is well below the national trend.

There have now been a total of 195 people who tested positive for the infection, according to Public Health England.

Yesterday's figure was 186, which was a rise of just five from the previous day.

Nationally it has been the grimmest day of the pandemic, with 938 deaths announced in the UK.

There have been 5,491 new cases, making a total of 60,733 cases and 7,097 deaths.

All the figures refer only to people who have been tested in hospital. The true extent of infection among the wider public, who have no access to testing kits, is as yet unknown.
