Luxury car firm Aston Martin offer free car repairs to all NHS workers in Milton Keynes

The famous Aston Martin works in Newport Pagnell is offering an emergency car repair service to all local NHS workers to make sure they can get to work during the coronavirus crisis.

Skilled mechanics and technicians at the heritage-steeped company will not charge a penny for labour.

President of the business, Paul Spires said: "The NHS is doing a fantastic job looking after those in our community. They rely on motor vehicles to take them to and from hospitals. We're very aware that a lot of garages have closed down, or a lot of those worker would probably have relied upon friends and family to make sure their cars are safe and reliable.

"What we are doing here at Aston Martin works is, we are opening up an emergency repair service. This is not for routine servicing. This is for cars that are potentially going to let those key workers down."

Already the company's efforts have prompted some grateful responses from NHS workers whose cars had let them down.

One said: "I cannot thank the lovely team at Aston Martins enough. My car suspension broke on my back wheel and it was seen 20 minutes later. They checked and fixed my car free of cost for the labour. I’m a nursing associate in district nursing and my car is essential for my job. Can’t praise them enough. Thank you so much."

Another said: "Wow, thank you for your help getting my car legally back on road at cost price I'm arranging for a mot at local garage after you repaired my breaks and pads. We are working harder than normal it was just so nice not to worry about expense for a change l."
