Rev Sarah Crane launched a GoFundMe page yesterday (Sunday) and has already exceeded her £1,000 goal.

She said: "It's fair to say that team MKUH have had a challenging few weeks. We have a number of staff who have needed to self-isolate and are looking at how we can support them.

"Our teams have been amazing in working together to support one another and we are really proud of their efforts."

Sarah said the hospital's head of communications, Sam Holden, has even vowed will shave his beard off if the appeal raises more than £1,000.

The MK Citizen reported last week that PAYE staff at the hospital get paid as normal while in self-isolation. But agency staff, in line with NHS guidelines, receive no money at all while they are forced to stay at home.

The GoFundMe money will pay for comfort packs for all staff whio are isolating and also for staff who are working extra hours. They will include food, treats and things to keep them entertained.

Sarah's role as hospital chaplain is to offer pastoral, spiritual and religious care to patients, visitors, staff and anyone who uses the hospital site.

!We are passionate ambassadors for personalised care, seeing the person and not simply the patient," she said.

The appeal currently stands at £1,154. You can donate here.
