Milton Keynes located in one of England's most vaccinated regions

New data released by the NHS has revealed a regional breakdown of COVID-19 vaccinations in England for the first time.

South East England trails only the North East and Yorkshire, and the South West, for total number of coronavirus vaccinations administered according to NHS England's latest data.

In total 348,863 citizens have received a vaccination in the region with 183,299 jabs going to those aged over 80.

Of the total number of jabs undertaken in the area, 62,394 were second doses, with 48,247 being given to residents over the age of 80.

A per 100,000 breakdown better illustrates how the elderly are being prioritised and protected by receiving the vaccine ahead of the rest of the general population. In the South East 36,715 per 100,000 people in the region aged over 80 have received the vaccine, versus 1,917 jabs being administered for people aged under 80.

The roll out of COVID-19 vaccines should increase in the coming weeks after several mass vaccination centres opened their doors on Monday. This Included a centre in Stevenage that has sent invitations to Milton Keynes residents.

The MK Citizen revealed there is still no set date for when the mass vaccination centre set up in Milton Keynes will be operational. With the latest reports indicating it could take until the end of January for vaccines to reach the site.
