Milton Keynes MP welcomes newly-announced relaxation of two metre social distancing rule

And he said the plan to reduce the current two metre social distancing guidelines to one metre will be a boon for many local businesses.

The list of places that can re-open from July 4 includes pubs, restaurants, hairdressers, cinemas, churches, hotels, caravan parks, museums, galleries, outdoor gyms, libraries, community centres and places of worship.

Weddings with up to 30 guests will also be allowed, while two households of any size can meet indoors for the first time.

Mr Everitt has launched a Bounce Back MK scheme to champion local businesses and encourage people to get out and support them in a safe way and hopes the MK community will continue to do the same for the latest re-openings.

He said: “It’s fantastic news, not just for everyone who’s been putting off a DIY lockdown haircut or waiting for that first pub beer, but for the local businesses who have been desperately wanting to re-open.

“The relaxation of the two metre rule will help many local pubs, restaurants and hairdressers who may not have been able to open if it remained two metres.

“Please do get out and support our local businesses in a safe way when they re-open on July 4.”

From July 4, two households will be able to meet up in any setting with social distancing measures.

People can now enjoy 'staycations' in England with the reopening of accommodation sites.

In order to begin restoring the arts and cultural sector, some leisure facilities and tourist attractions may also reopen if they can do so safely. This includes outdoor gyms and playgrounds, cinemas, museums, galleries, theme parks and arcades, as well as libraries, social clubs, places of worship and community centre

'Close proximity” venues such as nightclubs, soft-play areas, indoor gyms, swimming pools, water parks, bowling alleys and spas will remain closed for now. The government is continuing to work with these sectors to establish taskforces to help them to become Covid-19 secure and reopen as soon as possible
