Milton Keynes private school students forced to self-isolate

A student at a private school in Milton Keynes has tested positive for the coronavirus

Thornton College, an independent day and boarding school for girls, in College Lane, said the student tested positive on Tuesday (October 13).

The school said a number of students are now self-isolating for 14 days after coming into close-contact with the infected person.

Head teacher Val Holmes said, “I can confirm we have one child who tested Covid-positive today. This student along with a group of her peers have been asked to self-isolate at home. We will provide a full online curriculum for these students at home.

"At Thornton we are a supportive community and we wish the student concerned a speedy recovery."

The school said it is following all of Public Health England's guidelines.

According to the school's website,there are just over 400 children in the pre-prep, prep, senior and Sixth Form departments.
