Milton Keynes school closes due to Covid-19 infection

In a letter sent out to parents, Stantonbury International School has instructed the year group, and 'at least' 30 members of staff who came into direct contact with the infected person, to self-isolate for 14 days - they will be allowed to return to school on Tuesday, September 29.

A school spokesperson said national guidance is being followed while dealing with the situation.

The spokesperson said: "The school service team has deep cleaned common areas and we have conducted risk assessments with staff to ensure the return to classes is as safe as possible.

"The school followed the government's advice and sent all students home at midday because of a confirmed case of Covid which necessitated Year 8 and at least 30 staff who had been in contact with that student to self-isolate for 14 days.

"The school leadership team is now planning work for the Year 8 pupils and the deployment of the staff to provide home learning and assessment, re-writing the timetable to accommodate the absence of the staff affected and preparing the school for the return of Year 7,9,10 and the Sixth Form."

The rest of the school will return on Tuesday, September 15 except Year 10, which will return on Wednesday (September 16).

Headteacher Alison Ramsay thanked everyone involved with the school for their 'continued support and understanding at this difficult time'.

The school has 1,645 students in total.
