The letter, signed by head teacher Sarah Folkard, was sent out to parents whose children had come into close contact with the infected person.

It reads: "We have followed the national guidance and have identified that your child has been in close contact with the affected adult. In line with the national guidance your child must stay at home and self-isolate until Wednesday, October 28 at 3.15pm."

The letter goes on to say that if a child self-isolating has a sibling who attends the school, then they are able to carry on going to Portfields as normal.
