Milton Keynes school forced to close due to Covid-19 outbreak

Langland Community School, in Netherfield, sent out a text message to parents on Wednesday (October 21) saying there has been more confirmed Covid-19 cases within the school.

The text message said: "We have had further confirmed cases of Covid-19. Unfortunately, the decision has been made to close the whole school."

A Milton Keynes Council spokesperson said: "“We can confirm that 4 members of staff have tested positive for Covid-19 at Langland Community School. The school has temporarily closed as a precaution and wider testing of some close contacts is underway."

This news comes after a separate announcement was made on Tuesday (October 20) which said a member of staff had tested positive and that a number of students and staff members have been forced to self-isolate for 14 days.

The school said more information about the closure will be available on its website later today.

The government's guidance around Covid-19 in schools says that an outbreak can be defined if a school has 'two or more confirmed cases within 14 days'.
